Areas of Representation

We provide Legal Representation For:

areas of legal representationEducational meetings: The school will conduct evaluations and then hold an IEP meeting to determine whether your son or daughter qualifies for special education. If your child is found eligible for special education services, he/she will then need an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The Law Offices of Charles P. Fox will represent you at domain meetings (e.g., for evaluations) eligibility meetings, IEP meetings and 504 meetings.

Mediations: Our attorneys are experienced negotiators who can help you navigate mediation sessions with your school district.

Resolution sessions: Should you file for due process, your school district may insist on a resolution meeting in an effort to resolve issues and avert a hearing.

Due process hearings: If your child is denied eligibility for special education or if you believe that the IEP is insufficient or not being properly implemented, you have a right to file a due process request and a hearing will be held. We have extensive experience advocating in these hearings.

Manifestation Determinations: Children who receive special education services are afforded special protections under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. It is important to ensure that your child’s rights are adhered to should behaviors become problematic for both the school and your child.

Guardianship Process: We assist families in obtaining minor and disabled guardianships (person and/or estate) in Cook, Lake, DuPage and McHenry counties. Call to make an appointment for a complementary consultation with Julie Welsh.
