The following blog post is from my son, Cole Fox, who just finished 7th grade in an inclusive placement. He has physical challenges and a seizure disorder. This post reflects back on the difficult times he has had this past year. I suspect that he has put into words what many students feel at the conclusion of a challenging school year.
Another school year is over now ! Boy, am I glad ! It was not an easy one. I had a lot of health problems and I didn’t care much for Junior High because it was so uncaring. I didn’t feel excited about learning. I know I can do better than everyone expects. I just got tired of proving my intelligence to the people who can’t see, unless it is done like everyone else. Doing the work requires so much energy they will never know. I’m grateful for the people who know and believe in me. I hope next year is different. I plan on getting healthy this summer. I will be ready in the Fall.
